One day there was a bag of red clay in the hallway near my studio. The sign said "free." So I took it and started to experiment with this low-fire clay. Until now I only used high-fire clay. The red earthenware gave me a freedom I hadn't known before. Slips, glaze crayons, and color were now exciting. My pots became more playful and spontaneous. I fire everything in an electric kiln to cone 04.
